Thoughts from the Well
Gods Love For Us!
Christ’s
love transcends all our human understanding and
shows us how much the Son loves the Father and how
much God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit loves us,
the human race. Jesus constantly expressed His heart
felt love for the Father. In John 14:31 he says,
"But that the world may know that I love the Father,
and as the Father gave Me commandment, so I do…"
Paul the
great Apostle, tells all who will listen the depths
of Christ’s love for us. Galatians 2:20 says, "I
have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I
who live, but Christ lives in me; and the
life
which I now live in the
flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved
me and gave Himself for me." Then he goes on to say,
"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?
Shall
tribulation, or distress,
or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril,
or sword? … Yet in all these things we are more than
conquerors through Him who loved us." (Rom 8:35-37)
Christ died so that we could
have a totally transformed life through his living his life through us.
Ephesians 3:19 says, "to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge;
that you may be filled with all the fullness of God."
How are we filled with God? We
are filled by walking in the love that only God could give to us.
Ephesians 5:2 says, "And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and
given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a
sweet-smelling aroma."
Our love for God expresses
itself through our obedience. Obedience is not the cause of salvation
but it is a fruit of salvation. The Gospel of John, Chapter 14, verse 21
says, "He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me.
And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and
manifest Myself to him." Later, John tells us the depths of Jesus’ love
for us and the basis of our obedience is found in what he did for us.
"Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his
friends." (John 15:13)
We who
call ourselves disciples and follow Christ Jesus
must offer our lives up to God as a sacrificial
offering just as Chris was willing to die
sacrificially for us. 1 John 3:16 says, "By this
we know love, because He laid down His life for us.
And we also ought to lay down
our
lives for the brethren."
God the Father loves us so much
so that He paid the bloody price for our redemption, the life of his one
and only Son "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten
Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting
life." (John 3:16)
God deserves our love!
